What we are up to these days...

Well...
First thanks to all who helped me out on the Noah and teething dilemma...
Second...What the heck have we been up to?....A Lot!

Let's start by saying that we found an apartment and we will be moving in sometime late this week, early next week. Noah is the most excited because I think he gets cabin fever here in this little hotel room we have been stuck in for the past couple of weeks. This kid loves the outdoors! Loves loves loves being outside.
Can't believe he is actually over 4 months old now! He is growing so fast. Cute as ever I might add.

Jon is adjusting well into his new career as a platoon leader. He is learning new things everyday and really enjoying getting to know his soldiers.
Right now the biggest item on our to do list to find a car!! Please pray that we would find something safe and affordable for our lil family.

I really cannot wait to move into our new place...there is only so much unhealthy eating I can handle..and I think I have gone way past my limit. To have my own kitchen will be a dream come true for me again! I just hope all of my kitchen supplies make it over in one piece. I will try to take pics and maybe a video of our new place when we get moved in...maybe an empty apartment video and then when we get settled in...sort of a before and after...

Of course I cannot leave without posting pics of the lil guy...:)

This is Noah...deciding he would help Mom out...

Noah got into Dad's gear...LOL

Yep, I think our lil guy is teething...fussiness is almost unbearable, not sleeping well, drooling like a bulldog, chompin' on anything he can manage to get in his mouth....hmmm
My resources are limited here in Germany...so if any of you mommas out there could pass along helpful tips so I can keep my cool....and sanity...and comfort this lil unhappy dude...:(

The Houstons in Wurzburg!

We woke up 'round 8 (German time, that is)
Jumped into our clothes and put Noah in his
We ate breakfast and brushed our teeth chop-chop
Then met two friends at the nearest bus stop

We were Angie, Noah, Jon, Jen and Thane
We took bus, then cab, and finally train
A short ride it was and then we got off
On Gleis 5 of the Wurzburg Hauptbahnhof

Into the foreign city we wents
We saw cathedrals, a castle, and the old Residence
We ate German pastries in the Market Square
Below are some pictures that we'd like to share

Thane took this picture of Angie, Noah, Jen, and I.

Angie, Jen, and Thane in front of the Residence Palace. It was restored after heavy bombing of Wurzburg during WWII destroyed much of it.

"Guten Tag! Isn't it normal to eat lunch near a 500-year-old cathedral?"

The Houstons in front of the Fortress Marienberg. It was started near the year 1200. On the slopes in front of it are vineyards which supply grapes for wine that's still made there.

Robin Hood stays on the lookout while Little Jon plots their next move.

Seien Sie jener Bursche nicht. (Don't be that guy).

JON: "Noah, you won't even remember being here. Isn't that funny?"
NOAH: "Yeah it is, but at least I have pictures to prove it!"

"Hahahahaha! Tell it again, Mom! Tell it again!"

With tired feet and bellies full of dessert
We retraced our steps back to Schweinfurt
From the stein of slumber we proceeded to sip
Stay tuned for updates of the next Euro-trip!

Guten Tag!

Hello everyone!

Just a quick Hallo (that's hello in German) to let you guys know we made it ok.

We are in Schweinfurt Germany, and if you want to sound really authentic pronounce that with a "v" sound for the "w". So it sounds like Schveinfurt...lol.

There is oh so much to tell about Germany already.
We could not have arrived at a more beautiful time of the year.
Things around here are super green and blooming. Just gorgeous.

Right now we are living in temporary housing until we can find a place off post.
We already have an address set up though, so if you want it, email me...

Noah is adjusting quite nicely. He loves the outdoors. We are on the 3rd floor of a hotel style lodging and the windows are always open...no AC in Germany...you don't really need it because these buildings and houses are built so that they get max ventilation and stay cool. It's pretty neat. Jon and I have both noticed that Germans love being Green..Eco friendly. Trash is separated,..the air is pretty clear, seems like you can see for miles. They are also huge on driving. Everything is built for efficiency. I cannot begin to describe all the funny looking tiny cars I have seen a round here. This is just an example...

And seriously, they are that small. It's nuts! You would think Germany was a country full of dwarfs! It really makes me laugh.
We have to go car shopping soon and I cannot imagine driving something that tiny. But, cars are small for a reason here....the roads are super super narrow. What we would consider one lane is two here, and with opposite flows of traffic on them.

Gosh, I could keep going and going...but I will pace myself.

This weekend we are going to do our first official site seeing in the town of Wurzburg. Our first Castle! I still can't believe we are here and that I am saying stuff like that.

I will leave you with a fun picture we took of Noah during our last meal at Jims right before we left San Antonio. How cute?!!

Auf Wiedersehen!!!

Welp,
By this time tomorrow, Jon and I and of course lil Noey will be boarding our overnight flight to GERMANY!!!!!

We're excited. We're nervous. We cannot wait to see what it's going to be like.

Please keep praying for safe travel for us and for Noah to do well on the planes.

So far, we are almost confirmed to be living in Schweinfurt. It's not on the map but, it's basically between Bamburg and Wurzburg. (Northern part of Bavaria)

Everyone get your passports ready! Come on over...we feed and house...you just get here.

We will try to email and update the blog ASAP. Our cells will be officially turned off so don't try calling. We should be able to get phones pretty soon after we get there.

We love you all so dearly...

AAAHHHH! Germany here we come......
