Adapting to the weather...

Again, I must brag on my cool husband...

Having no snow shovel doesn't stop him.

The ice and cold weather can't stop him.

Notice, this man doesn't need a coat when there is ice and snow on the ground....

This, my friends, is what Jon recently dubbed "A Texas Snow Shovel"

Notice the strength in those arms...Yep, this man cleared the entire sidewalk so our friends would not slip on the way to our house for the party we had on Saturday.

Jon invited his class over to meet me and Noah, it was a blast! I made 2 kinds of chili, cookies, an orange dreamsicle cake, and Jon made his famous monster good ribs!

Here are some more pictures from Noah's 5 week birthday! yay...he's growing so fast!

I love my lil guy:)

A new table..and a great new recipe! :)

My husband is the bomb! He's the coolest ever! His joy comes from serving me in any way he can, which includes being super handy dandy and building me the cool table in the picture..:) At first we were going to try to find one, and then he insisted that he build me one, I was reluctant at first. I admit, it was stupid...I thought to myself, Jon wants to make me super happy by using his God-given skills to serve me by building a cool table, nothing would make him happier than to build it himself, not buy it. So, I obliged, why would I want to rob him of this opportunity?? And so the finished product ... Well, it's not complete yet, we plan on putting another piece of wood ontop to cover the nail holes, then use his fancy pants woodburning skills to burn something really neat into the tabletop for decoration....we're currently brainstorming on Bible Verses dealing with food or just our initials or some scrolly design...

Also, I wanted to share this great recipe for a Mexican Cassarole. Super easy, I just made it the other night, it reheats well and its already a favorite of ours. Here's what you need:
Cassarole dish
1 bag of cool ranch doritos
1 can of rotel
1 can of cream of mushroom soup
1 can of ranch style beans
1 pound of ground beef
onion..optional
1 bag of shredded cheese

Just brown the beef (with the onion if you like)
Line the dish with crushed doritos
stir all the cans together in a bowl, add the meat and then pour over the chips.
sprinkle crushed chips on top if desired,
bake on 350 for about 30, then add the cheese, bake until cheese melts.

Delicious, I know the picture doesnt do it justice...trust me, its good, a little spicy too! Enjoy! Let me know if you make it!

Weather update...today I got snowed in... well the roads are icey and yuck..blah no hair cut for me I guess, which is what I was planning to do, but I can't drive in that mess..pfff...Great news, Jon's FTX got cancelled, so he got to come home early today:)

Noah is 1 month old!

Finally! I finally found some time to take pictures of our sweet baby! He turned 1 month this past Saturday...my how time flies.

We are loving Missouri, mainly for one big reason...Jon's here! We are adjusting to the cold weather and learning tricks on how to de-ice your car and/or prepare for the ice. Yay! We've been able to enjoy several days of snow, from the inside anyway. We haven't played in any of it...which I'm itching to do as soon as I get some appropriate clothes to do it in.

Noah is growing so fast. He is such a strong lil' man already. He lifts his head a lot, and has been holding it up since about the first week. He was on the couch the other day and almost rolled completely over! We're so proud! The most interesting thing for us as parents has been trying to find the perfect pacifier that stays in his mouth the best, so if you have suggestions, please feel free to leave them. Also, we discovered that we are in need of a bouncer, seems to be the best movement to soothe him right now, the swing doesnt quite do it for him yet.

We still do not have definite plans for our leave date for Germany....we will let everyone know asap. We are really looking forward to the move, we have been hearing nothing but wonderful things about the town we are moving to and how wonderful it is for kids!

I hope to have video posted in the near future...as soon as I figure out how to do it!
We love you guys, and miss ya'll lots! Dont be strangers...call, email whenever! It would be wonderful to hear from familiar voices again!

We are alive and well...with sugary snow??? :)

Just wanted to give a quick update... The Houstons are alive and well...we made it to Missouri wonderfully, with the amazing help of Jon's parents, whom we were so blessed by. Greg drove the Uhaul, Laura drove me and Noah. Laura stayed a few extra days and cooked amazingly good food for me and Jon.

Thanks again to everyone who helped with our move...again. And for everyone who came to visit me and Noah before we left for the woods..lol. My mom, sister...and all of my amazing church family.

Things in Missouri are good, we love our new lil house and are adjusting to the weather. This morning I woke up to lots of weird precipitation..its like sugar snow..or hail or ice balls or something...it sounds "like a bowl of rice crispies are popping" according to Jon, when it falls..its neat. Jon got to come home early today because of it, the highlight of me and Noah's day when Jon comes home.

I will try to post pics and fun videos of our growing lil man. He is becoming quite a handful, the first two weeks were so different with so many people around holding him and loving on him, we are finally alone, getting time to bond and learn each other, and we are definitely learning! trying to find a good schedule has been my life for the last week, and will be for a while. We are loving every minute, even when we don't sleep or just dont know what to do with the lil guy sometimes. Wouldnt trade it for anything.

Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we continue to adjust, and also keep Jon's future, and him NOT to deploy in your prayers too. We love you all and miss you dearly, but we are so overwhelmed with Joy to finally be a family, together in the same place:) pictures I promise and maybe even video will follow:)
